Born in Germany, Jurgen received his artistic training at The Hamburg Academy of Art (Hochschule fur Bildende Kunste) and studied under one of the last surviving pupils of Kandinsky. He worked for many years in UK-based advertising and design roles, while out of hours he pursued his love of painting and produced a large body of abstract work. It was with the advent of computers capable of generating print-worthy images in 1986 that he embraced the latent desire to create exciting fantasy images, which quickly turned into a

passion. Jurgen has created over 50 well-known fantasy images as posters with sales well over a million. His images appear on book covers of science fiction authors such as Robert Silverberg, Vernor Vinge, Steven Baxter, Ian Banks and Peter Hamilton. In 1997 A book of Jurgen’s work was published, “NEW TERRITORIES - The Computer Visions of Jurgen Ziewe” Not surprisingly his sensitive lyrical approach to computer art was recognized by the advertising industry and he was quickly snapped up by some prestigious commercial clients,

ranging from big financial institutions such as American Express, Woolwich, Schroders, Edinburgh Fund Managers and Norwich Union to companies like Virgin, Lego, Canon, Kodak, Siemens and Apple. He also contributed his illustration work to major publishers like Reader’s Digest, Dorling Kindersley, Kingfisher and Penguin. To keep abreast with the industry Jurgen invests in the latest soft ware with some of the most revolutionary development in rendering technology (see ring illustrations below).
